Title: Five lies – I can stop it any time
Their first kiss happened after Michael's high school graduation.
"You'll be the first in our family to actually make something of his life," Lincoln had said giving him the cheque of their mother's non-existant life insurance.
Michael had been overwhelmed by not only the fact that he was actually able to study structural engineering, but also by the pride in Lincoln’s voice.
"Thank you..." Without thinking, he leaned forward and kissed Lincoln. Just softly on the lips.
Maybe it lasted a little too long for a kiss simply out of gratefulness - and Lincoln didn't break it, but stroked gently over Michael's jaw - but it was still an innocent kiss. And it didn't really count, because they have been both pretty drunk at the time.
The second kiss took place in Baja.
"When it can't be Thailand, let it at least be Mexico..." Michael had asked. "We can afford it now, before my study begins... Please Lincoln, come with me...“
Lincoln had liked the prospect of spending an entire weekend with Michael. That way, maybe he could make it up to him for not being as good as a brother as he should have been, so he agreed.
The drinks in Baja were cheap – even cheaper during 'Happy Hour' - and they had to hold tightly onto each other on their way to their equally as cheap hotel room, where Lincoln pressed Michael against a wall and kissed him. Not that innocently this time, but Michael moaned happily and wrapped his arms around Lincoln's neck.
This repeated for the next two days (or nights), but it was okay: they could stop it at any time. What happens in Mexico stays in Mexico, after all.
And it wasn't like they were in love with each other or anything like that. At least that was it what they were trying to convince themselves.
All that collapsed when Lincoln got arrested and they realised that they were about to lose each other for ever. Michael couldn't bear it. when he discovered where the money really came from, he promised himself to do anything to get Lincoln out of death row. Really anything...
Now they kissed on deck of the 'Christina Rose' in the setting Panamian sun but it was okay, too because there lay a new life in front of them...
